The U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other embassy staff members were killed Tuesday in an attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya, the White House confirmed Wednesday. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Ambassador Chris Stevens, consulate employee Sean Smith and two others — whose names were being withheld until their families were notified — died after the building came under attack by a mob of protesters armed with guns and rocket-propelled grenades.
